Albion City Manager Chimes in on Peabody Historical Redevelopment

Recently, Dr. Sheryl Mitchell, Albion’s City Manager, shared a statement regarding the Peabody Project. “The Dobbins Family [of ACE Investment Properties] are truly trailblazers for the preservation of a historic treasure in our downtown corridor. This is a key part of our transformation of Albion’s business corridor. As City Manager, my role is to serve as the municipal partner that interfaces with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, which provides key tools and vital resources that make such redevelopment projects feasible.”

Sheryl Warren Mitchell began her municipal career working with the City of Detroit City Council for 13 years and then as Senior Analyst for the Oakland County Board of Commissioners for 17 years.  The Albion Mayor and City Council voted on September 2, 2014, to appoint Sheryl L. Mitchell as City Manager. In this role, Dr. Mitchell is the chief administrative officer of the City, including the $14 million annual budget, and coordinates all city departments to implement the programs and policies of the City Council. She is focused on building a more vibrant community. Key components are economic vitality through job creation and stabilizing and revitalizing the businesses and neighborhoods.

Dr. Mitchell received her Doctorate in Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University. Sheryl currently serves on the boards of the Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce, Summit Pointe, Calhoun County Health Commission, Regional Health Alliance, Albion Branch NAACP, and Ismon House.
