When all is said and done, this home will be one of our biggest transformation projects. We purchased this at the 2019 county tax sale auction partly to protect the investment that one of our other businesses has in the renovated Masonic Temple building next door.
This house was in rough shape when we purchased it and we believe that it housed some transient people and likely housed drug activity. However, with another quality landlord owning a multi-family building on the street, the neighbor directly across taking great care of their property, and the Courtyard Marriott and downtown Albion a block away, we thought this was a good investment.
As of the writing of this article, the plan is to install all new windows in this house, install all new plumbing, install a new kitchen, and add a mud room and half bathroom with laundry off the rear entrance. We are going to replace the furnace and add central air conditioning, wrap the house’s exterior and install new vinyl siding for efficiency and aesthetic appeal. We’re also adding a small deck off the back for easier entry, upgrade/update the front porch, swap out the exterior and interior doors and add a master suite to the second floor (whew!). The completed project will be a beautiful 3- bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home in the heart of downtown.
